Coastguards Caution On Danger Of Rip Tides

The coastguard in Wales has issued a warning to the public to be aware of rip currents following incidents in both north and south Wales.

Five people needed assistance from Horton RNLI in two separate incidents at Three Cliffs Bay, Gower, while a young child was swept out to sea in a rubber ring and family members cut by rocks as they tried to rescue him at Shell Island, near Llanbedr, Gwynedd.

The coastguard has urged people to only swim at a life-guarded beach.

None of the people in the alerts needed medical attention.
