Mother Of Stephen Lawrence To Be Made Labour Peer

Doreen Lawrence, the mother of murdered teenager Stephen Lawrence, is to be made a Labour peer.

It is understood that the recommendation has been agreed by Ed Miliband and forwarded to Downing Street amongst a list of recommendations.

Doreen Lawrence has led a long campaign to find out what happened to her son, who was killed in 1993.

Rowling Accepts Charity Donation As Damages For Pseudonym Revelation

The law firm that leaked the pseudonym of author JK Rowling has agreed to make a "substantial" charity donation.

Rowling was outted as Robert Galbraith, author of the crime novel the Cuckoo's Calling after solicitor Chris Gossage revealed the confidential information to his friend Judith Callegari.

Ms Callegari later revealed the information to a journalist on Twitter.

Mr Gossage, Ms Callegari and Russells all apologised and the firm agreed to pay the author's legal costs.

It also agreed to make a payment, by way of damages, to the Soldiers' Charity, formerly known as the Army Benevolent Fund.

LFC Staff Given Guide To "Offensive" Slurs

A guide to unacceptable language has been issued to staff of Liverpool Football Club in an effort to eradicate verbal abuse by fans.

The club say they want put an end to slurs against gender, race, sexual orientation and disability. The guide includes: "don't be a woman", "play like a girl" and "that's gay".

It follows criticism of the club for its apparent inaction after player Luis Suarez was found to have racially abused Manchester United's Patrice Evra during a game last year.

Players receive their own guidance as part of a separate Premier League programme.

Man Jailed For Attempting To Kill Neighbours' Cat
A man who attempted to kill his neighbours' cat in Hereford has been sentenced to 20 weeks in prison. Karl Dyke, 52, admitted trying to murder the Siamese cat in July. Michael and Tracey Lawrence saw Dyke dangling the cat from a rope in his shed. The cat was not injured in the incident.

JK Rowling Donates £1m To Back Scotland In UK
The author of the Harry Potter books JK Rowling, who lives in Edinburgh, has made a £1m donation to help fund the Better Together campaign against Scottish independence and has revealed her views and explained her decision in a long post in her website.
