Over 200 Addresses On List For Paramedics To Request Police Backup
A Freedom of Information request has revealed there are more than 200 houses that London Ambulance Service (LAS) will not attend unless they have police assistance.
The BBC have reported on a list, the Location Alert Register, containing 390 addresses. 226 households are given the lists most serious classification.
It is understood that householders who end up on the Location Alert Register are sent a letter warning them.
The list is divided into four categories.
• Category 1 - households where "a member of staff has…been the subject of physical violence"
• Category 2 - a staff member has been threatened with a weapon, verbally abused with intimidation or "verbal abuse aggravated by being based on the grounds of race, religion or sexual orientation".
• Category 3 - "a member of staff has been verbally abused,"
• Category 4 - "where a medical condition was a major factor in the incident".
However, despite the warnings, paramedics are told that they must not just wait outside on police arriving and are only allowed to delay treatment if they believe that are in danger, LAS said.
