Police Investigate Abuse Claims At Scottish Catholic Boarding School

Police in Scotland have confirmed that they are investigating claims of abuse at a former Scottish Catholic boarding school.

Fort Augustus Abbey in the Highlands and its East Lothian prep school were the focus of a BBC Scotland investigation that uncovered evidence of physical and sexual abuse at the institutions.

Following the airing of the programme on Monday, fresh claims of abuse have been made against the schools.

According to the BBC, the Benedictine order, which ran the schools, have apologised to any victims.

Police Scotland said they could not comment on a live investigation.

15-Year-Old Arrested Over Secondary School Stabbing
Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with the stabbing of two girls outside a secondary school in Glasgow. Police Scotland said the two girls, aged 13 and 15, were attacked outside a school in the Barmulloch area on 19 March.

Home Secretary To Announce New Inquiry Into Abuse Claims
Home Secretary Theresa May will outline plans to MPs for a fresh inquiry into allegations of child abuse in north Wales later today. The new inquiry comes after a man who claims he was abused by a senior Thatcher-era Conservative said an earlier inquiry did not fully investigate abuse claims.

Met Combine All Ongoing Historical Child Abuse Investigations
The Metropolitan Police has combined all ongoing investigations into historical child abuse, to be led by a newly formed investigation team under Detective Superintendent Ang Scott. The force said that is has decided to combine Operations Midland and Fairbank following the discovery of a number of people and locations common to both enquiries.
