Council Reject Philpott Memorial Garden Proposal
Derby City Council has rejected a call for a memorial garden on the site of the house set alight by Mick and Mairead Philpott, in which they killed six of their children.
It is understood that the house, at 18 Victory road, and its direct neighbouring house, will be demolished and new housing built in its place.
The council rejected a petition calling for memorial garden on the site, saying that it could attract unwanted attention and that other residents in the street did not want a permanent reminder of the tragedy.
