Kidnapped Briton Freed In Nigeria

A British man has been released after being held for two days by kidnappers in Nigeria.

The British High Commission confirmed that the Briton was released on Sunday after being seized on Friday outside Lagos airport.

He had just arrived in the country.

It is not know if any ransom was paid to secure the release of the man.

Family Of Murdered British Teacher Launch Fresh Appeal
The family of murdered British teacher Lindsay Ann Hawker are making a fresh appeal for information about her death. Miss Hawker, 22, from Brandon, near Coventry, had gone to Japan in October 2006 to teach English. However, her body was found in a bath filled with sand in a flat in Ichikawa, east of Tokyo, in March.

British Social Attitudes Report: 'True British' Must Speak English
The 31st NatCen Social Research British Social Attitudes survey of 3,000 people shows UK citizens have harder attitudes over immigration, welfare or the requirements which make a person British. 95% of them found that it is important to speak English to be "truly" British, up from a 86% in 2003.
