Level Three Heatwave Warning Extended To Midlands
A level three heat-health warning issued yesterday for London and the south-east, has been extended to take in the south-west of England and the West Midlands.
The three level warning puts healthcare services on alert for those at risk in such high temperatures, which includes young children and the elderly.
The threshold temperature for a level three warning is 30C for south-west England and the West Midlands, 31C for the south-east and 32C for London.
When the threshold temperature has been reached for a day and night, and there is a 90% chance of reaching it again the proceeding day, a level three warning is triggered.
Level two warnings are currently in place for the east of England, East Midlands and Yorkshire and the Humber. These alerts are triggered by a 60% or higher chance of the threshold temperature again being reached on the second day.
