Heatwave Warning Upgraded In South East

The heatwave warning for London and the South East has been upgraded, with temperatures likely to top 30C.

The Met Office have said south-eastern areas could face a "Level 3 heat-health watch criteria".

The "Level 3" warning - only one notch below the most serious alert - is part of the heat-health watch system, which is intended to put health, housing, social care and other public bodies on alert in case of a heatwave.

Health officials have warned that the ongoing hot weather could be dangerous for the very young, the elderly, pregnant woman and the seriously ill.
