RAC Propose Change To Drivers License
The RAC Foundation has called for a new system of graduated licences for learner drivers in the UK, claiming it would reduce the number of road deaths.
The new system would consist of three stages spread across four years. The stage would be:
• Stage one
A minimum 1 years experience driving, before, taking the test. Drivers would be required to have experienced a range of driving conditions such as night and winter driving.
• Stage two
Restriction would continue to be applied for a year after taking the test, such as a limit on the number of passengers.
• Stage three
A final two year probation period, during which if a driver gets up to six penalty point that they would have to re-sit the test.
The RAC Foundation study suggests that hundred of live could be saved every year if the system was revised.

Maximum sentence for death drivers rises to 14 years
The maximum sentence for causing death by dangerous driving will increase from 10 to 14 years, Home Secretary David Blunkett has announced today. The increase will target drivers who kill, be it through driving dangerously, driving whilst under the influence of drink or drugs or joyriding.

'Ban Young From Night Driving' Says Report
While new research has claimed that banning newly qualified young drivers from night time motoring - or drinking any alcohol or even carrying passengers of a similar age - would save lives, not everyone is in agreement. Edmund King, President of the AA, said there were already tough measures in place to protect young drivers.
