Former Music Teacher Arrested On Sexual Abuse Charges

A 65-year-old former teacher has been arrested in connection with the alleged sexual abuse of a 15-year-old pupil.

The incident dates back to the 70s when the victim was a pupil at Chetham's school of music in Manchester.

The former teacher was arrested on June 26 on suspicion of the indecent assault and attempted buggery of the girl.

He has been bailed to appear again on September 24.

Detectives are investigating claims of historical sexual abuse at Chetham and the nearby Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in Manchester.

In February, violinist Wen Zhou Li, a tutor at both Chetham's and the RNCM, was arrested on suspicion of rape. He denies the charges but has been suspended pending the police investigation. His bail has been extended until 26 July while police continue to make inquiries.
