Courier Critical After Being Run Over By Stolen Van

A courier is in critical condition after being run over while trying to stop his van from being stolen.

It is understood that the courier was making a delivery in Purfleet, Esses at around 12:20 on Tuesday afternoon. As he delivered his package, two men jumped into the van and began to drive away.

In an attempt to stop them the courier clung to the outside of the van, but fell off after about 100 yards. The van then ran over him before speeding off.

Two men were subsequently arrested at around 02:00 on Wednesday morning in connection with the robbery.

A statement from Essex police said: "The driver, who is in his 50s and from the Havering area, received multiple injuries and remains in a critical condition at Royal London hospital."

Money stolen in Securitas van raid

Police Van Death Probe
An investigation has launched into the death of a pedestrian who was hit by a marked police van. Kenneth Thiel-Furber, 26, of Whitchurch died in the early hours of Saturday. He was hit by a Vauxhall Vivaro van on the A41 by the Wrexham Road roundabout. He was confirmed dead at the scene.

Man In Critical Condition Following Acid Attack
A man is in a critical condition in hospital after acid was thrown in his face in Cornwall. The attack happened in Carrine Road, Truro, on Tuesday 9 December. He is currently being treated at Treliske Hospital. Police are appealing to speak to the driver of a red Peugeot van seen in Carrine Road around the time of the incident.
