24-Year-Old Man Jailed Over Facebook Threats
A man has been jailed for two years and four months, after pleading guilty to charges in connection with posts on Facebook in which he said he was going to kill at least 200 people.
24-year-old Reece Elliott, of Foss Way, South Shields, posted comments on the memorial pages of two US school girls who had been killed in car accidents.
On the tribute page of a girl who died in Tennessee, Caitlin Talley (16), Elliot, using a fake account, posted: "My father has three guns. I'm planning on killing him first and putting him in a dumpster.
"Then I'm taking the motor and I'm going in fast. I'm gonna kill hopefully at least 200 before I kill myself. So you want to tell the deputy, I'm on my way.
"I'm killing 200 people minimum at school. I will be on CNN."
He also targeted the tribute page of another 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named.
It is understood that his posts caused panic in Warren County, where Caitlin Talley lived, leading to schools being closed as a precaution.
The father-of-one admitted one count of making a threat to kill and eight of sending grossly offensive messages.
