Housing Commission Report Is Published
The RICS Housing Commission has formed recommendations for what government and industry should do to drive investment in affordable housing and ultimately build the right homes for everyone in the UK.
The Commission, chaired by Michael Newey, took practical evidence from the property profession, the not-for-profit housing sector, investors, developers, stakeholders and public interest bodies.
The conclusive report, launched today, Monday 24 June, was delivered to the UK Housing Minister and the Shadow Housing Minister to help formulate policies to address the country’s housing crisis in the short term and manifesto commitments ahead of the 2015 election.

• Effective subsidies
• Improving stock quality
• Regulation
• Land availability
• Facilitating investment in the rental sector

UK Construction Heading for Double Dip
The UK construction industry is heading for a double dip recession, according to the latest Construction Products Association’s industry forecasts. They predict that construction will be the first major industry sector to fall back into recession following a temporary recovery in the first six months of this year.

Rural housing crisis can be solved, says report
Rural communities need a major increase in subsidised housing, if the next generation is not to be priced out of the countryside, according to the independent Affordable Rural Housing Commission in its report to Government launched today. The report sets out practical actions that should be taken if this affordable housing is to be built.

PM Backs Military 'Coming Home' Campaign
The Prime Minister has pledged his support for a £20m charity appeal to give the UK’s most grievously wounded soldiers a better life. The 'Coming Home' appeal was launched by the Haig Housing Trust to find and adapt accommodation for Servicemen left severely disabled by battlefield injuries.
