Maths Teacher Convicted Of Child Abduction

Maths teacher Jeremy Forrest has been found guilty of child abduction, in connection with running away to France with a 15-year-old pupil he was in a relationship with.

A jury at Lewes crown court found the married 30-year-old teacher guilty at the end of a two-week trial.

It is understood that the female pupil, who cannot be named for legal reasons, claimed that going to France was her idea, and that she had threatened to hurt herself if Forrest didn't take her.

The trial heard that the pair fled the UK after their relationship was uncovered on the 19 September last year. They left for France the following day.

A review board will now investigate the school, Bishop Bell, in Eastbourne, East Sussex, as it is claimed that Forrest was given several warning about the nature of his relationship with the girl.
