Osborne Pledges To Tackle Corporate Tax Avoidance

A plan to tackle tax avoidance by multinational corporations has been unveiled by chancellor George Osborne.

A register of beneficial ownership will be established to highlight who is benefitting from such advantageous arrangements, the chancellor has promised.

Speaking on BBC Breakfast, Osborne said: "You're going to see concrete achievements today on changing the international rules on taxation, so individuals can't hide their money offshore and companies don't shift their profits away from where the profit is made."

It is understood that Osborne hopes to encourage other world leaders to back the idea at the ongoing G8 summit.
