Care Home Regulator To Pilot Death Rate Monitoring System
The Care Quality Commission (CQC) has begun tracking death rates in care and nursing homes in England in an effort to increase early identification of problems.
A new scheme, which will trigger an investigation if high number of deaths are recorded, will be piloted, BBC's Panorama will report on Monday night.
According to the BBC, care homes are required to report deaths to the CQC, but not all facilities are doing this.
In a special report to be broadcast tonight – Elderly Care: Condition Critical – the CQC say they will consider sanctions against homes that fail to comply.
