Double Garage Dismantled And Stolen

A prefabricated double garage was dismantled and taken away from outside a house by thieves.

It has been reported that the garage could have taken several days to take apart and likely required a large vehicle or trailer to remove it.

It was stolen from a house in the grounds of the Orchardbank Industrial Estate in Forfar, Angus, which has allegedly laid empty for a number of years.

41-Year-Old Charged With Criminal Damage Of Queen Portrait

A 41-year-old man has appeared in court charged with causing over £5,000 of criminal damage to a portrait of the Queen, which was on display Westminster Abbey.

Tim Haries, from Doncaster, South Yorkshire, appeared at Westminster Magistrates' Court, he entered no plea and was bailed until the end of June.

A spokesman for Fathers4Justice said on Thursday Mr Haries was a member of the campaign group but that there had been no official protest.

Queen's Jubilee Barge Crashed Into Kew Bridge

The largest barge to take part in the Queen's Jubilee Pageant, the Gloriana, has crashed into a Grade II listed building.

The £1 million barge struck Kew Bridge in south-west London at around 19:00 on Thursday after apparent engine failure.

The boat had been blown towards the bridge, becoming wedged by the rising tide. It was eventually towed to Kew Pier by the RNLI.

There was superficial damage to gilded carvings on one side and a wooden crown on the stern was knocked overboard.

Napoli container salvage set to resume
Salvage teams working on the cargo ship stranded on a Dorset Beach are set to resume work on recovering the containers on board the listing ship. Efforts to remove over 2,000 containers form the beached container ship Napoli had to be halted when a mooring cable on the crane barge snapped.

Public Name New Neighbourhoods In Olympic Park
Five new residential areas that will be built on the future Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park have been named following a public competition. Almost 2,000 people submitted their suggestions to the Olympic Park Legacy Company, inspired by factors such as the future design for the area, its history or the Games themselves.

FBU Vow To Fight Firefighters Dismissal Over Strike Action
The Fire Brigade Union (FBU) has vowed to challenge the dismissal of a firefighter, who did not work a shift during a national strike. Ricky Matthews, from Buckinghamshire, was sacked amid claims that he had illegally taken part in strike action.

British troops sent to riot-hit Afghan city
British troops have been sent to a town in Afghanistan where riots are continuing over the publication of cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad. The troops were sent to an airfield in the northwestern town of Meymaneh, after a mob tried to storm a NATO peacekeeping base.

The Queen Leaves Hospital
All of the Queen's official engagements for this week have been canceled as she recovers, Buckingham Palace has confirmed. Earlier the Queen left hospital in central London where she was being assessed for gastroenteritis symptoms. She was admitted to London's King Edward VII's Hospital as a precaution.
