Dale Cregan Given Whole-Life Sentence

Dale Cregan has been given a whole-life sentence for the murders of two police constables and a father and son Manchester last year.

30-year-old Cregan was on the run after the double murder of David Short (46) and his son Mark (23), when he lured PC Nicola Hughes (23) and PC Fiona Bone (32) to an address on the Hattersley estate in Mottram, under the pretence of an alleged burglary.

According to the Guardian, Cregan fired 32 shots in less than half a minute killing the two officers, before throwing a hand grenade, described as Cregan's "calling card", at their bodies.

After killing the officers Cregan drove to their station in Hyde and handed himself in.

Mr Justice Holroyde QC told Cregan he would spend the rest of his life in jail for the "premeditated savagery" of his attack.
