CPS Consider Criminal Charges For Officer Who Tasered Blind Man
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is reviewing a file passed to them from the IPCC about an incident in which a blind man was Tasered.
63-year-old Colin Farmer was Tasered by a police officer in Chorley on 12 October last year. Police were looking for a man reportedly walking through the Lancashire town carrying a samurai sword.
It was claimed that the officer mistook Mr Farmer's white stick for a sword.
The IPCC investigated the incident following a referral from Lancashire Police.
The CPS will now decide if there is enough evidence to bring criminal charges.
Designed to temporarily disable a target, Taser's deliver a 50,000 colt electric shock.
