New Scheme Encourages Former Military To Become Teachers

A new government scheme will see former soldiers become qualified teachers in two years.

In an effort to encourage members of army, Royal Air Force and the Royal Navy to become teachers, ex-soldiers without a degree but with qualifications or experience as coaches, instructors or mentors will reach the classroom in about half the time it usually takes to become a teacher.

In addition, military personnel who already had a degree would be given bursaries and be able to enrol on teacher training courses with extra bespoke training.

The new scheme will begin next year.
