Link Between Islamic Centre Fire And EDL Being Investigated

Counter-terrorism police are investigation whether a fire at an Islamic centre in London is linked to the English Defence League, after it was confirm the far-right groups acronym, EDL, was painted on the building.

The specialist officers have taken charge of the investigation amid fears of reprisals following the death of solider Lee Rigby in Woolwich.

The Guardian has reported neighbours of the Islamic centre in Muswell Hill allegedly heard an explosion early on Wednesday morning.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation and is being treated as suspicious.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured

Three teenagers, two aged 16 and one aged 17, have been arrested on suspicion of arson in connection with a fire at an Islamic centre in Harlow. The Harlow Islamic Centre, located on Paringdon Road, was damaged by fire on 26 August.

Investigation Launched Into Manchester City Centre Fire
An investigation has been launched into the cause of a fire at a seven-storey building in Manchester city centre. Firefighters were called to the former CWS building near Victoria railway station at about 17:30 on Monday. It is believed the fire broke out in the buildings roof space.

Major fire causes disruption in Manchester city centre
A major fire has destroyed a five-storey office building in Manchester, spreading to a second building. The fire broke out on Dale Street around 5:55am on Monday morning. It is understood that the initial fire has been brought under control, but the building is now in danger of collapsing.
