Former Prison Officer Arrested For Suspected Corruption

Offices from Operation Elveden have arrested a former prison guard on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and corruption.

The as-yet-unnamed 39-year-old was arrested at his home in Waltham Forest, east London, by officers investigation payment made by journalists to police and public officials.

He is the 66th person arrested in connection with Operation Elveden.

Three people have been arrested as part of the investigation into inappropriate payments made to police and public officials. It is understood that two serving police officers and a journalist were arrested at their homes in Hertfordshire and Surrey by officers from Operation Elveden.

Prison Officer Arrested In Operation Elveden
Officers from the Operation Elveden investigation have arrested a serving prison officer. The 40-year-old man was arrested at 8.30am on Monday in Sittingbourne, Kent, on suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office. This is the 58th arrest by the Met's inquiry into payments from journalists to police and public officials.
