Graham Ovenden Found Guilty Of Sexual Offences

Internationally renowned artist, Graham Ovenden, has been found guilty of six charges of indecency and one of indecent assault at Plymouth Crown Court, the Guardian has reported.

Ovenden denied all charges but was found guilty by a jury and sentenced to 12-months in jail, suspended for 2 years.

It is understood that the charges relate to incidents involving girls he photographed.

During sentencing Judge Graham Cottle told Ovenden: "There can be no doubt that at that time you had a sexual interest in children."

Acclaimed artist Graham Ovenden, who specialises in images of children has denied allegations of indecency with a child and indecent assault at Truro crown court. However, opening the case against him, Ramsay Quaife, prosecuting, said Ovenden had abused four of the girls – now adults – who had posed for him.

A Muslim preacher has been convicted of two terror charges. Abu Izzadeen - also known as Omar Brooks - appeared in Kingston Crown Court today with seven other men on a variety of charges relating to the support of terrorism.

Hamza found guilty of race hate charges
Radical Muslim cleric Abu Hamza al-Masri has been sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of soliciting to murder and race hate charges at the Old Bailey. Egyptian-born Hamza, 47, was found guilty of 11 of the 15 charges against him.

BNP leader found not guilty of race hate charges
The leader of the British National Party has been cleared of two charges of inciting racial hatred. Nick Griffin, from Llanerfyl, Powys had denied four counts of using words or behaviour intended to incite racial hatred. Another BNP activist, Mark Collett, from Rothley, Leicestershire, also denied eight similar charges.
