Woolwich Suspects To Appear In Court

Two men charged with murdering soldier Lee Rigby in Woolwich are due to appear in court.

Michael Adebowale, 22, was remanded by the court last week and is expected to face the Old Bailey via video link, while 28-year-old Michael Adebolajo will make his first court appearance since being charged by police at the weekend.

Both men were shot by police before being arrested after the murder of Drummer Rigby in south-east London.

Mr Adebolajo, from Romford, was charged after spending nine days in hospital. He is also charged with the attempted murder of two police officers and possession of a firearm, a 9.4mm KNIL Model 91 revolver. While Mr Adebowale, of Greenwich, who spent six days in hospital, was remanded in custody by Westminster Magistrates' Court last Thursday. He also faces the same firearms charge.

An Old Bailey judge will hear a bail application on his behalf ahead of a pre-trial hearing in the case listed for 28 June.

Elsewhere, Prime Minister David Cameron is expected to address MPs after the first meeting of the anti-terror task force set up after the attack. Following the attack on Drummer Rigby, Mr Cameron set up a task force which brings together Cabinet ministers, intelligence and police chiefs.
