House Destroyed In Gas Blast
A house has been destroyed and two more badly damaged in a suspected gas explosion in Sheffield. South Yorkshire Fire Service has said the blast was reported at the property in Dundas Road shortly after 9am this morning.
A spokesman for South Yorkshire Police said: "Initial information indicates that gas is the source of the explosion."
While a spokesman for South Yorkshire Fire Service said crews were working to make the scene safe in order to begin a search of the rubble. He said a specialist urban search and rescue team from West Yorkshire was on its way to assist. A 150m cordon has been put in place around the property and the neighbouring homes have been evacuated. Several roads in the area have also been closed.
It is thought two adults and two children have been taken to hospital after suffering minor injuries. A Yorkshire Ambulance spokeswoman said an adult male had been taken to the Northern General Hospital in Sheffield and a second adult and two children had been taken to Rotherham District Hospital.

IPCC Ask North Yorkshire Police For Savile Review
North Yorkshire Police has been asked to review “all relevant material” relating to contact its officers had with Jimmy Savile. According to the BBC, the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) is acting "in light of information received" and said it wanted to know whether there were "conduct matters that should be referred to us".

Man Dies After Being Swept Out To Sea
North Yorkshire Police have confirmed the death of a man in Scarborough after he was swept out to sea. It is understood the man was walking his dog near the Spa in the resort's South Bay when he was swept out to sea at about 18:00 on Sunday.

South Yorkshire Hospital To Cut 20% Of Workforce
A South Yorkshire hospital trust has announced it will be cutting around 20% of its workforce, some 750 jobs, by 2015. Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust said it needed a "smaller hospital, with substantially fewer beds" and a smaller workforce to save £50m over the next four years.

HMIC Publish National Child Protection Inspection Review
The HM Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) has published its post-inspection review regarding child protection work carried out by South Yorkshire Police. HMIC published an initial report in September 2014, which found that South Yorkshire Police had an "inconsistent approach" to child protection and improvements to the care of children in custody.
