Sir Cyril Smith Abuse Investigation Extended To Ten Others

An investigation into allegations of abuse by Sir Cyril Smith at a residential school has been widened as ten other people are now also being investigated.

Last year allegations were made that former MP Sir Cyril Smith had abused boys at the Knowl View school.

Following these two other former pupils came forward saying they had been abused by other people at the school.

Det Insp Caroline Ward, of Greater Manchester Police, was quoted by the BBC as saying: "The information is being audited at the moment at the council premises, we're getting details of all the people that we are interested in and we will be coming out and speaking to those people."

The investigation is described as “alive and ongoing”.
