Man Dies Following Aircraft Crash

An investigation has been launched after a light aircraft crashed at Caernarfon Airport in Gwynedd.

A man died and two others, including a boy, were critically injured in the accident.

The crash happened just before 11.30am on Sunday morning.

Firefighters cut the man from the wreckage but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

North Wales police said the two other casualties had been taken to Ysbyty Gwynedd, where their condition has been described as critical. It is understood a man in his 60s suffered "serious multiple lower limb injuries" while the boy had head and abdomen injuries.

North Wales Police added that the three were from the same family in Lancashire.

The aircraft flipped onto its roof on a runway at Dinas Dinlle, and experts from the Department for Transport's Air Accident Investigation Branch (AAIB) were sent to the scene on Sunday to start a preliminary inquiry.

The site remained closed on Monday morning.

Chief Inspector Darren Wareing said an investigation was on-going into the crash and appealed for any witnesses to get in touch with the police.
