Savile BBC Producer To Face No Criminal Action

Jimmy Savile's former BBC producer, arrested by officer from Operation Yewtree, will face no further criminal action.

76-year-old Ted Beston was arrested on 19 December last year on suspicion of sexual offences, allegation that Mr Beston, of Bromley, southeast London, has always denied.

According to the BBC, police have now said there is insufficient evidence to support a prosecution.

"There was early investigative consultation with the Crown Prosecution Service, but in accordance with the DPP's guidance on charging, the police did not submit the case for full CPS advice to decide the outcome," a statement from the Metropolitan Police said.
