Two Die In Level Crossing Collision

Two people have died after a train hit their car at a level crossing at Great Coates, near Grimsby, North East Lancashire.

It is understood that the driver and passenger of the car were both killed in the collision.

No train passengers were injured, according to British Transport Police (BTP).

The Cleethorpes-to-Scunthorpe train was travelling at about 60mph when the crash happened, at about 19:40 on Tuesday.

BTP said one person was confirmed dead at the scene, at the crossing on Woad Lane, while the other died on the way to hospital.

The driver of a car was killed when a train hit a car at a level crossing near the village of Rawcliffe Bridge near Goole in Yorkshire. Five train passengers were also injured. The accident occured at an unmanned level crossing just before 6.30pm on Thursday.

Woman Dies During Charity Channel Swim
A woman from Barwell, Leicestershire, has died during a charity swim across the English Channel. Susan Taylor, who was in her 30s, got into difficulty while in the water and despite receiving treatment in a support boat was pronounced dead in Boulogne on Sunday.

Man Critical Following Attack In Kingswinford
Police are appealing for a number of people who may have witnessed an attack on a man in Kingswinford in the early hours of Saturday. The attack happened between 2.15 and 2.30am on Saturday 9 May in High Street, Kingswinford between Bar South and The Arizona Crossing pub.
