20 Years For Tenerife Beheading Murderer

The Bulgarian man who beheaded Jennifer Mills-Westley in a Tenerife supermarket has been detained 20 years in a secure unit in Spain.

22-year-old Deyan Deyanov was convicted last week of the attack on Norwich woman, in May 2011.

It is understood the sentence was the maximum possible, and had been requested by prosecutors.

Accused On Trial Over British Woman Beheading In Tenerife
The trial begins today of a man accused of murdering and beheading a British woman on the island of Tenerife in May 2011. 60-year-old Jennifer Mills-Westley had moved to Tenerife after retiring from her job as a road safety officer with Norfolk county council. She was killed on the 13 May in the resort of Los Cristianos in the Canary Islands.

Teenager Serving 20 Years For Murder Loses Appeal
A 16-year-old serving a minimum 20 year sentence for the murder of Ann Maguire has had an appeal against his sentence rejected. According to a report by the BBC, the the teenagers appeal was unanimously rejected.

Teen To Serve At Least 20 Years For Murdering Teacher
A teenage boy who admitted murdering Leeds schoolteacher Ann Maguire, 61, is to serve a minimum of 20 years in prison. The 16-year-old, who cannot be named, stabbed Mrs Maguire to death in a classroom at Corpus Christi Catholic College in Halton Moor on 28 April. At the court this morning he issued a former guilty plea to the murder charge.

Surveys of more than 50 woodlands, parks and gardens managed by the National Trust revealed that the winter's heavy winds and storms caused the biggest loss of trees in over 20 years. A number of rare and historic samples have been knocked down including the largest tree in Essex.

Man Sentenced To 20 Years Over Denis Cowan Murder
A man has been jailed for 20 years for the murder of a man in October 2000. Dialo Hall, 33, of no fixed abode was jailed for life with a minimum term of 20 years for the murder of 27-year-old Denis Cowan. He was also sentenced to 12 years for possession of a firearm with intent and possession of a firearm - this sentence is to run concurrently.
