Number of UK Employed Reaches Record High
In the three months to December UK unemployment fell 14,000 to a total of 2.5 million, figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show.
Alongside the fall the number of people in work jumped to a new record, rising by 154,000 to 29.7 million. More than 580,000 more people are employed than a year ago.
Other figures show that the number of people claiming Jobseeker's Allowance in January fell by 12,500 to 1.54 million.
Overall, the ONS said there were 29.73 million people in the UK in employment, of which 73% were working full-time and 27% were working part-time.

ONS Figures Show UK Unemployment Now At 2.56m
New figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that unemployment reached 2.56 million in February, rising some 70,000 since December. The overall unemployment rate for the quarter was 7.9%. The figures also show that the number of Jobseeker’s Allowance claimants fell to 1.53 million, dropping by 7,000 last month.

Drop In UK Unemployment
Newly published figures show that UK unemployment fell by 45,000 to 2.63 million between January and March. The Office for National Statistics said the jobless rate fell to 8.2% and youth unemployment was down by 17,000 to 1.02 million.

Two million people 'risking their sight'
More than two million people in the UK are at risk of needlessly losing their sight through treatable eye conditions, according to a new report. The Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) said that 1.9 million people with diabetes and 250,000 people with early-stage glaucoma are unknowingly risking blindness.
