Horsemeat Scandal Has Spread To Schools And Hospitals

The ongoing horsemeat controversy has now spread to include some schools and hospitals after it was revealed a number of products destined for the institutions contained equine DNA.

It is understood that cottage pies destined for 47 schools across Lancashire have been withdrawn after testing positive for horsemeat on Thursday.

And after confirmation of horse DNA by officials in Northern Ireland a range of burgers bound for hospitals have been withdrawn.

As authorities struggle to keep pace with the scale of the crisis the Food Standards Agency is due to publish the results of UK-wide tests for the presence of horsemeat in processed meals.
