Prison Officer Arrested In Operation Elveden
Officers from the Operation Elveden investigation have arrested a serving prison officer.
The 40-year-old man was arrested at 8.30am on Monday in Sittingbourne, Kent, on suspicion of conspiracy to cause misconduct in a public office.
This is the 58th arrest by the Met's inquiry into payments from journalists to police and public officials.
The prison officer is being interviewed at a police station in Kent and his property is being searched.
It is understood the arrest was made following information provided by News Corporation's management and standards committee.
The force added in a statement: "It relates to suspected payments to a public official and is not about seeking journalists to reveal confidential sources in relation to information that has been obtained legitimately."
