Veteran BBC Presenter Charged With Rape And Indecent Assault
Veteran BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has been charged with 14 counts of indecent assault and one charge of rape, Lancashire Police have confirmed.
Hall was arrested on Tuesday morning after attending a police station by appointment.
The charges relate to alleged offences going back almost 40 years.
The indecent assault offences are alleged to have been committed between 1967 and 1986 and to involve 10 girls aged between 9 and 16. The rape is alleged to have been committed in 1976 against a 22-year-old woman.
Hall was one of the BBC’s longest-serving commentators and made his name nationally as a presenter of It's a Knockout in the 1970s and 1980s, and its European equivalent Jeux sans Frontières. He received an OBE in the last New Year honours list.
He has been bailed to appear in court in Preston on 7 February.

The former frontman of Welsh rock band Lostprophets Ian Watkins has pleaded guilty to 13 charges of sex offences against children, including the attempted rape of a baby. The 36-year-old from Pontypridd had previously "furiously denied" the charges against but charged his plea on the opening day of his trial on Tuesday.

A Milford Haven man has gone on trial accused of 17 counts of sexually assaulting three young people. Sixty-three year-old Michael McGuire of Greville Road has pleaded not guilty to the charges which relate to two girls and a boy and date back as far as the early 1980s.

Mobile Customers To Share £1m Refund
Mobile provide EE is to refund around £1m to a number of customers wrongly charged VAT between October 2012 and October 2014. It is understood that EE customers who travelled outside the EU during those dates and used internet data were affected by the charges. The company estimated it as being about 0.5% of its customers.
