Four Die In Scottish Highlands Avalanche
Four friends have died in an avalanche while descending a mountain in Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands.
Dr Rachel Majumdar from Merseyside, Christopher Bell, from Blackburn, Una Finnegan from County Londonderry and Tom Chesters, from Sidmouth in Devon, died in Saturday's incident.
A 24-year-old woman remains critical in hospital and a sixth climber, a man, survived.
It is thought the group were caught up in the avalanche on Bidean Nam Bian around 14:00 on Saturday, with five of the group carried down the mountain when the slope they were on broke away.
The sixth member survived by leaping from the collapsing snow and hammering an ice axe into the ground.
29-year-old Dr Majumdar was a doctor working at Harrogate District Hospital. Dr Finnegan was 25-years-old and a junior doctor living in Edinburgh.
28-year-old Mr Chesters lived in Leeds and was a PhD student at Hull University.
And Mr Bell, 24, was from Balderstone near Blackburn in Lancashire and was studying for a PHD in Ocean Mapping in Oban.
