27 Oil Fields Shut Down Following Leak
A leak on the Cormorant Alpha platform has lead to a pipeline system servicing up to 27 oil fields being shut down.
The fields affected, and another eight associated platforms, produce about 10% of the UK's oil output.
It follows the discovery on Monday of a leak inside a leg of the Cormorant Alpha platform.
All non-essential staff were taken off the platform.
Taqa, also known as Abu Dhabi National Energy, said nothing had leaked into the sea and a technical team was investigating the source.

Staff Taken Off North Sea Oil Platform
Workers are being evacuated from a North Sea oil platform after hydrocarbons were detected in one of its legs, it has been announced. The incident is at Taqa Bratani's Cormorant Alpha platform, which is about 94 miles off Shetland. It is understood there are 159 people on board and all are said to be safe and well.

North Sea Oil Pipeline Declared Safe
The North Sea oil pipeline shut down following the discovery of a leak within the leg of an offshore platform, has been declared safe to use and will begin operations again today. The Brent pipeline was closed on Monday as a precaution by operators of the Cormorant Alpha platform, Taqa.

Source Of North Sea Gas Leak Has Been Found
Total, owners of the evacuated Elgin oil platform, have said they think theu have found the source of the gas leak. The French fuel group said they have traced the leak to a gas pocket in a rock formation 4km (2.5 miles) below the seabed but 1km above the gas reservoir being tapped.

Workers on two offshore oil rigs have been evacuated after a gas leak on a third, nearby, rig. Shell has removed workers from two of its rigs off the coast of Aberdeen after a Total platform was evacuated following a leak.
