Morecambe Shopping Street Blaze Extinguished
More than 30 firefighters worked to stop the spread of a fire in one of Morecambe's major shopping areas.
Crews from Morecambe were joined by others from Lancaster, Carnforth and Bolton le Sands to tackle the fire at the corner of Yorkshire Street and Regent Road in the early hours.
Incident commander Mark Hutton said firefighters were called to the scene just after 04:19am.
There were fears over homeless sleeping in the building but Mr Hutton said: "We have searched the building extensively and we don't believe there to be anybody inside."
The fire has been out out but traffic flow to the area is limited.

Heroic Tyne Firemen Honoured
Two Tyne and Wear firefighters are to be recognised for their bravery at a special ceremony today. Andrew Nelson and Allan Richardson will be presented with the Chief Fire Officer's Commendations for brave and meritorious conduct after saving a man's life. The men took part in a dramatic rescue in the early hours of 4 February.

Firefighters launch four-day strike
More than 1,000 firefighters across Merseyside have begun a four-day strike in protest over planned job cuts. Another four-day stoppage is scheduled to begin two hours after the first one ends.

Suspicious Glasgow Car Fires
Detectives in Glasgow's East End are investigating a spate of vehicle fire attacks in the city yesterday. Shortly after 3.30am police were called to a report of a vehicle fire in Ashvale Crescent, Glasgow. Upon arrival police were advised by Strathclyde Fire Service that four vehicles had been damaged by fire.

Major fire causes disruption in Manchester city centre
A major fire has destroyed a five-storey office building in Manchester, spreading to a second building. The fire broke out on Dale Street around 5:55am on Monday morning. It is understood that the initial fire has been brought under control, but the building is now in danger of collapsing.
