Charity set up for Iraq war veterans
A new charitable fund has been set up today to give the public a chance to support veterans of the Iraq war.
Launched in London today, the UK Forces Gulf Fund has been set up by three established charities – the King George's Fund for Sailors, Army Benevolent Fund and the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund. The aim of the venture is to create a central fund that will assist veterans on areas such as welfare issues.
The MoD say the fund has not been set up to compensate those who are injured and their families as there are schemes already in place to deal with this.
The Charities Aid Foundation has been appointed to manage donations and provide administrative support to the fund. Money will be distributed by the Trustees of the fund to beneficiaries or other specialist charities through the three service benevolent charities.
Anyone wishing to make a donation should call 0800 107 0200 or visit the charity website at //www.4ni.co.uk/link-error.aspx
