Frankie Dettori Banned For Six Months

Jockey Frankie Dettori has been given a six-month ban from racing after failing a drugs test in France.

The 41-year-old, who has more than 3,000 career wins, tested positive for a banned substance on 16 September.

The suspension imposed by French racing authority France Galop will run until 19 May 2013, and will apply worldwide for the three-time champion jockey.

In a statement Dettori said he "has let down the sport he loves" but most of all "his wife and children".

The substance, discovered after a test at Longchamp racecourse, has not been disclosed, although Dettori's solicitor said it was not a performance-enhancing drug.

Deadline Ending On Unclaimed £64m Lottery Ticket

The highest ever unclaimed lottery prize - nearly £64m - will go to good causes if the winner does not come forward by 23:00 on Wednesday.

The EuroMillions ticket for the 8 June draw was bought in the Stevenage and Hitchin area of Hertfordshire.

The missing ticket-holder matched all five numbers - 5, 11, 22, 34 and 40 - and the Lucky Star numbers - 9 and 11.

Anyone who believes they have the winning ticket for any of the draws within the 180-day deadline should call the National Lottery Line on 0845 910 0000.

Prizes that remain unclaimed after 180 days go to the National Lottery Good Causes scheme.

First Snow Causes Havoc On Roads

Snow has fallen in parts of southern England and north-eastern Scotland, causing accidents and delays.

Dozens of schools were closed in Aberdeenshire, Hertfordshire and Essex. And police in Essex say at least 10 people have been injured in 45 crashes.

Flights were delayed as Stansted and Luton Airports' runways temporarily shut while they were cleared of snow.

Meanwhile, the Met Office has issued an amber warning for snow for much of Scotland overnight into Thursday.
