Man Charged Over Rape Of 11-Year-Old

An 18-year-old man has been charged in court over the rape of an 11-year-old girl in London.

Opemipo Jaji of Oswald Place, Enfield appeared at Enfield Magistrates Court over the incident, which occurred in a park in north London.

The victim, a schoolgirl, was abducted while getting off a bus on Galliard Road at about 17:00 on 23 November and was taken into Jubilee Park in Lower Edmonton, Enfield.

Mr Jaji is charged with rape and attempted rape of a girl under 13. He has been remanded in custody and will appear at Wood Green Crown Court on 6 December.

Girl Dies In Tram Accident

A teenage girl has died after being struck by a tram in Nottinghamshire.

Police were called to the junction of Hucknall Lane and Nottingham Road in Hucknall at about 19:00 on Tuesday over reports someone had been hit by a tram.

Forensic examinations following the accident led to services to Hucknall being terminated at Moor Bridge.

Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Woman Dies In Traffic Accident

Police in Wales are appealing for information following the death of a woman in Powys.

The woman died after a two-vehicle road crash which occurred on the A4133 between Knighton and Leintwardine on Tuesday shortly before 10:50.

She was airlifted to hospital but died later. A man driving a Citroen van was treated for shock.

Fans Arrested After Hearts Celtic Match

Seven football fans have been arrested following Wednesday night’s Heart v Celtic match at Tynecastle in Edinburgh.

The men are thought to be aged from 20 to 44 and were arrested following "disruptive" behaviour.

They are due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.

Lothian and Borders Police are examining CCTV footage of the match, and say further arrests could be made.

Celtic won the match 4-0 to go clear at the top of the SPL table.

Shabir Ahmed, 59, led a child sex exploitation ring of nine men who targeted vulnerable young girls in the Rochdale and Oldham areas of Greater Manchester.

Rape Investigation Against MP Mark Pritchard Dropped
An investigation into rape allegations against Conservative MP Mark Pritchard have been dropped, Scotland Yard has confirmed. Mr Pritchard, MP for The Wrekin in Shropshire, was arrested on 2 December, however he was released on police bail. He has now been informed no further action will be taken.

English football fans stabbed in Italy
Three Middlesbrough fans have been stabbed in Rome in a violent clash ahead of the football club's UEFA cup match against Roma. The violence broke out in the Campo di Fiori area when two bars, where around 200 English fans were drinking, were targeted by a group of Italian fans.

Date rape case judges 'can influence trial outcome'
A judge's summing-up can influence a jury's decision in date rape cases, a report has suggested. The research, conducted for the British Psychological Society, presented 168 university students with a date rape scenario, which included a summing-up statement by the judge, and asked them to decide on the guilt of the alleged rapist.

Police Appeal For Information On Rape Of 15-Year-Old Girl
An investigation has been launched after a 15-year-old girl was raped as she walked home in Cumbernauld on Saturday. It is understood the girl was walking home when she was approached by two men on Beechwood Road shortly before midnight.
