Cameron Handed Leveson Report
David Cameron has been handed the findings of the Leveson report into media standards.
The report will be officially published on Thursday. Downing Street says it has received "half a dozen copies".
It is thought deputy PM Nick Clegg and the culture secretary will also see it.
The Prime Minister and deputy Prime Minister are due to meet consider the government response to the recommendations.
Mr Cameron is on record as telling MPs the status quo was "unacceptable and needs to change".
Speaking at Prime Minister's Questions on Wednesday, Mr Cameron said he was "looking forward to reading the report carefully".
He is due to make a statement to the Commons at 15:00 on Thursday, where he will seek a cross-party consensus on regulation.
Meanwhile, there have been reports of a split in the coalition regarding the proposed level of regulation.
It is thought more than 80 MPs and peers have urged Lord Justice Leveson not to recommend a new law.
The report is expected to recommend a new, independent, regulatory body to oversee press regulation.
Meanwhile, First Minister Alex Salmond has told BBC Scotland he would be in favour of introducing such legislation in Scotland.
He said he was against state regulation but would approve of an enhanced press council, based on the system operating in the Republic of Ireland.
The Leveson inquiry was set up a year ago to examine the press in the wake of the phone hacking scandal.
