More Comet Closures Confirmed
A further 125 Comet stores will close by the end of the year if a firm offer for the whole business is not made, administrators Deloitte have confirmed.
Around 5,000 jobs are in jeopardy. Further stores will begin closing in December with just 70 stores of the original 236 remaining open until final stock is sold.
Deloitte's Chris Farrington said: "Should any acceptable offers be received for stores we will delay the closure process. Unfortunately, in the absence of a firm offer for the whole of the business, it has become necessary to begin making plans in case a sale is not concluded."
Since Deloitte was appointed to work for the electricals chain, some 1,500 jobs have already been axed.
