E.On Makes £1.7m Compensation Deal
Energy company E.On has agreed to pay £1.7m in compensation, including interest, to overcharged customers.
E.On failed to allow customers 94,000 a 30-day window to switch supplier after a price rise.
A total of £1.4m is being paid directly to overcharged exit fee customers.
The average rebate is valued at £14.83 each.
The other £300,000 will be paid into a hardship fund run by Age UK.

Pre-Pay Gas Customers Overcharged By Faulty Meters
More than a million gas meters have been misreading the amount of gas used and overcharging pre-pay customers since around 2007. Industry body, Energy UK, has confirmed that pre-payment customers have been overcharged for gas – some by around 25p for each top-up – due to faulty meters.

E.On, one of the UK's 'Big Six' energy suppliers, is to pay an additional fine of more than £7m for overcharging its customers. The company will have to pay a penalty of £7.75m after incorrectly charging exit fees and/or overcharged its customers, following price increases. The fine is in addition to £400,000 E.

New Data Shows Women Hit By 'Mid-Life Pay Crisis'
Female managers over 40 years old are earning 35% less than men, according to new data by the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) and XpertHR. To earn the same as a male manager over a career, a woman would have to work the equivalent of over 14 years more.

Commission On Minimum Wage Visit
Two Low Pay Commissioners are to visit London next week on a fact-finding visit about the National Minimum Wage. The visit is one of a number of planned trips the Low Pay Commission is making around the UK during 2011 to "gather information on how the minimum wage is operating".

Funding Boost Of £455m For Equal Pay Claims
Funding of £455m will be awarded to councils in England to allow back payments relating to thousands of equal pay claims from women workers. In a move to speed up long-term commitments to achieving equal pay for all council workers, local government minister John Healey gave the go-ahead to 34 councils to raise the money through capitlisation.
