UK Space Spend Rockets

Spending on space technology will increase by £60m per year over the next two years as part of the plan to increase the UK's contribution to the European Space Agency, according to Chancellor George Osborne.

He made the announcement as part of a a speech to the Royal Society, calling for a national debate on where the UK can lead the world in scientific excellence.

The move is part of a government plan to attract more hi-tech jobs and contracts to Britain.
