Child Abuser Jackson Jailed
Child kidnapper and sexual abuser Michael Jackson has been jailed indefinitely.
The 50-year-old man from the West Midlands admitted kidnapping a boy and a girl, aged 10 and 11.
He was arrested last November after the missing boy was found at his flat in Oldbury. The child had been tied up and sexually assaulted.
The girl was abducted in the West Midlands in September 2011.
Jackson, who lived on Bristnall Hall Road, must serve at least seven years before being allowed to apply for parole.
He pleaded guilty in May to abducting the girl. He also admitted false imprisonment, abduction and sexual assault in relation to the boy’s disappearance.
The boy went missing after failing to return home from a walk to the convenience store.
His mother informed police and a search was launched with the help from the family’s neighbours.
The boy was found less than two hours later, after police forced entry to the flat.
He had been bound and locked in a cupboard, but had managed to escape. He was attempting to get to a window in the flat when he was seen by a woman who was looking for him.
The boy was repeatedly threatened by Jackson, who told him he would murder his father, the court heard.
Jackson’s defence lawyer John Attwood said his client was unemployed and being treated under the Mental Health Act.
The boy’s abduction caused mass protests in Oldbury and a community group was set up with the aim of improving communications between residents and police.
