Man charged over cocaine seizure

A Tunisian man today appeared at Horseferry Road Magistrates Court

charged with attempting to smuggle 10kilos of cocaine into the UK.

Claude Salvato (56), from Senegal, arrived at London City Airport

last Wednesday on a flight from Senegal via Brussels.

The cocaine is said to have a street value of approximately £580,000.

Salvate was remanded in custody and the case was adjourned until May 1.

Doherty pleads guilty to drugs charges
Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty had pleaded guilty to possession of drugs after arriving more than two hours late at a court appearance in London. An arrest warrant had been issued for the 28-year-old singer earlier on Tuesday after he failed to turn up at 9:30am for a hearing at West London Magistrates' Court.

Man Charged Over Airfield Cocaine Seizure
A 38-year-old man has been charged in connection with the seizure of seven kilos of cocaine at a North Yorkshire airfield. Dean Ash, from Links Road, Acton, London, was arrested at Bagby Airfield near Thirsk on Sunday 18 October.
