ITV Cut 45 Regional News Jobs
ITV have announced they are cutting 45 jobs from its regional news operation, mainly technical and support roles, with a second round of cuts expected to hit editorial roles.
The first round of cuts amounts to just less than 8% of the 600 staff employed in ITV regional news.
ITV outlined a number of proposals to staff on Thursday, including creating a new centralised graphics unit, which would be based in Birmingham, and a new 3D and HD compatible graphics system for the regional operation.
A spokesperson said: "ITV is committed to continuing to broadcast a high quality, accurate and impartial regional news service, as we do at present."
"The proposals we have outlined today are designed to modernise some of our working practices and ensure we are continuing to provide first-class news for viewers, on an economically sustainable basis."
