Planning Relaxation To Be Defied By Tory Council
The governments relaxation of planning rules for building extensions is set to be defied by a Tory council in south-west London.
The proposals cover England and will allow larger home and business extensions without planning permission, in an effort to boost the economy
However Richmond council officials in south-west London are considering ways to circumvent the policy, over fears of a rash of ugly extensions
Despite the relaxation the government have said councils will still have the power to block extensions.
A month-long consultation is currently under way on the proposal to ease rules, for a three-year period, on developments including home extensions of up to 8m - compared with the current 3-4m limit on extensions without planning permission.
