5-Year-Old Dies Following Accident At Steam Fair
A five-year-old girl has died after being hit by a sow-moving vehicle at a vintage steam fair on Saturday morning.
Efforts to resuscitate the girl on Saturday morning at the Lanlivery steam fair near Lostwithiel, Cornwall, were unsuccessful, police confirmed.
"The child was treated by paramedics at the scene within a minute of the incident occurring as they were present at the show on a display stand within 100m of the location," a Devon and Cornwall police spokesman said. The girl was flown to Derriford hospital, Plymouth, where she died.
The child's foster parents gave permission for the well-established annual two-day event to continue today. They also attended a church service at the field in remembrance of the child.

An 11-month-old baby has died after being mauled by a pet dog, police in Lancashire have said. The baby girl, from Emily Street in Blackburn, died in hospital at about 23:00 on Monday. Police have arrested a 26-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of child neglect in connection with the incident.
