Man Admits Welby Farm Burglary
A man has pleaded guilty to the burglary of a Leicestershire farmhouse during which two other intruders were shot.
Andy and Tracey Ferrie were arrested at the farm, in Welby, after telling police they had fired a legally held shotgun at a group of intruders.
33-year-old Daniel Mansell, from Leicester, admitted the burglary at Loughborough Magistrates' Court and is due to be sentenced on 25 September.
Mr and Mrs Ferrie have been bailed pending further inquiries.
Joshua O'Gorman, 27, also charged with burglary, did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody to appear before magistrates on 14 September.
The court was told Mr Ferrie, 35, and his 43-year-old wife had gone to bed at about 22:15 BST on Saturday and were woken hours later by banging and the sound of breaking glass.
Police were called to the house at 00:26 BST on Sunday. Mr Ferrie told them he had fired at the group who had then left.
He and his wife were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.
Four men, aged 23, 27 and 31, and 33, were then arrested at Leicester Royal Infirmary.
